A Diverse Curriculum
The educational program at PPACS is infused with the arts. We offer all of our students a comprehensive program emphasizing both artistic and academic excellence. Our curriculum meets national and state standards. Our teachers are encouraged to use a thematic curriculum, in which they apply one theme to reading, math and the arts.
Children learn by doing, and as a result we offer a hands-on approach to education. Often, students team up or work in groups to learn from each other, fostering greater communication skills and a school-wide spirit of cooperation.
The Arts
Vocal, Drama, Classical Ballet, Music Theory, Instrumental Music and Visual Arts follow the National and Pennsylvania State Standards for the arts and humanities. According to those guidelines, our arts curriculum incorporates the following elements at all grade levels:
- Problem Solving Skills
- Comprehension of basic symbol systems and abstract concepts
- Practical application of technical skills to production and performance
- Comprehension of the creative process and application through creative thinking skills and development of verbal and nonverbal expression
