Language

Language studies show that an early start in second language learning enables greater intellectual flexibility, enhances problem solving skills and heightens creativity. Learning a second language also deepens understanding of the native language and culture and leads to higher performance in other academic areas.

Aligned with both the Pennsylvania and National Foreign Language Standards, the PPACS French program uses primarily the Natural and Communicative Approaches to language learning. Multiple activities, including Total Physical Response (TPR), songs, dance, movement and skits as well as a cultural component make up our daily lessons. Reading and writing skills are developed as students move through to the upper grades. The intensive study of French at the Majors level allows students to enter advanced language classes at area high schools.

It is our desire that throughout their course of study, our students will experience an increased sense of global awareness and retain a positive attitude toward diversity which will serve them throughout their lives.
