What we have been up to lately...

The members of student council have been hard at work with a wide variety of fundraisers. In just the past year they've already held several successful events.

Our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive was a great success. With the help of our classrooms, members were able to create ten food baskets stocked with a complete Thanksgiving dinner. Each basket also contained a gift card that could be used to purchase a turkey at the local food market.

Council members also decided to raffle off a variety of baskets this year. To date, they've given away a huge movie basket and game basket.

To begin the new year, student council will be holding "The Mega Bakesale" on January 23rd & 24th. This is sure to be the school's biggest bake sale ever. In fact, two days are going to be needed to unload all of the delectable treats!

They also plan to raffle off another great basket during Bingo Night in February. The theme of this basket will be "Family Night."

Candy-Grams will also be sold again. They are a sweet way to say "I love you!" and the students love them.

The members of our student government are also planning an educational assembly for our younger grades. Members will be choosing a President and researching information about his life. They then plan to hold an informational assembly to present their information.

To support local and national charities, the student council has also sponsored a variety of fundraisers. One ongoing fundraiser is for the Ronald McDonald House. All of our homerooms are racing to win the grand prize at the end of the year and be crowned the "tab-collecting" champions. Also, beginning in January, council will be hosting the Pasta for Pennies program that benefits the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. They aren't stopping here though. Valentine's Day will include a jump-rope contest that will benefit the American Heart Society. Families and students can sponsor contestants in this "hopping" fundraiser.
