Does my child need experience in the arts to attend PPACS?
No, students are selected by lottery, however, it is easier for the student who is entering the upper grades (5th - 8th) to have had some performing arts experience.

Must my child audition for PPACS?
No, students must only complete a lottery application to be eligible for enrollment. Students applying to grades 5 - 8 must also attend a workshop.

What arts classes must my child take?
All students in grades Kindergarten to 5th have technology, French, drama, vocal, instrumental, visual art and ballet each week. Upon entering 6th grade, students choose one of the arts as a major and receive that subject everyday for the following three years.

What about academics?
PPACS uses a core academic curriculum that is aligned with the PA State standards. Arts subjects are integrated into the academic subjects.

How long is the school day?
Due to the extended curriculum, PPACS students begin their day at 7:45 A.M. and are dismissed at 3:30 P.M.

Must my child wear a uniform?
Yes, PPACS has a uniform policy that is strictly enforced. All items are available at Cramer's Kids on East Passyunk Avenue.

Does PPACS provide transportation?
No, there is no transportation provided by PPACS, however, families who live more than 1.5 miles from the school are reimbursed by the School District of Philadelphia for travel expenses.

Does PPACS have a lunch program?
No, however, lunches are available to purchase when ordered in advance.

Must I pay tuition?
No, there is no cost to attend PPACS. PPACS is a Philadelphia Public School that is governed by a private Board of Directors.

What happens if my child is not selected?
We maintain our list for one year. If a spot becomes available anytime during the school year, we contact the next name on that list. If your child's name is not selected you must reapply the following year.
